Our philosophy is to enhance the musical experience not only for the members of the orchestra but in the community at large. The repertoire is varied, embracing both classical and alternative styles while maintaining a level of excellence. The youth orchestras were founded in 2009 by Marva Rasmussen and Carolyn Quinn. Marva and Carolyn bring decades of expertise and practical experience to better musically educate children. In October of 2017, the NCYO joined Southwest Ohio Philharmonic, Inc. (SWOP).
The mission of the NCYO of SWOP is to foster and promote the musical interests and abilities of each individual student while striving for excellence.
The Northern Cincinnati Youth Orchestras offers three levels of orchestra experience for northern Cincinnati area string students. Violin, viola, cello and bass students through grade 12 are eligible for acceptance in either the Concertino, Cadet or Senior Orchestra. Our philosophy is to enhance the musical experience, not only for the members of the orchestra, but in the community at large. We are happy to provide an orchestra experience for homeschoolers and students in schools with no string programs, as well as supporting those schools with orchestra programs by providing an enrichment experience for interested students.
